Bank of England leaves key interest rate unchanged at 5% (by William L. Watts)

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee left the central bank's key lending rate unchanged at 5% Thursday. The decision was widely expected. The rate has remained unchanged since April as policymakers grapple with a policy dilemma created by rising inflation pressures and the threat of a significant economic slowdown.
