U.S. weekly initial jobless claims unchanged at 384,000 (by Robert Schroeder)

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Initial claims for U.S. state unemployment benefits were unchanged at 384,000 in the week ending June 21, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The four-week average of those claims rose to 378,250, the highest since October 2005. Both figures are above levels signaling a weak labor market. Continuing jobless claims rose to 3.14 million in the latest week and the four-week average of continuing claims hit 3.10 million, the Labor Department said.
