Amazing how important the month of March has proven to be for both the S&P 500 and DJIA over the past decade in terms of marking significant highs and lows in the markets.

Here follows a table of them taken from the S&P500 monthly chart, pictured below:

2001: Interim Low (lasting 6 months) - 1081.20
2002: Year's High (lasting 32 months) - 1173.95
2003: Year's Low (multi-year) - 788.90
2004: Interim High (lasting 8 months) - 1163.25
2005: Interim High (lasting 4 months) - 1229.10
2006: Interim High [Mar-May](4 months) - 1326.70
2007: Year's Low (lasting 10 months) - 1364.00
2008: Interim Low (lasting 4 months) - 1257.00
2009: Year's Low (multi-year?) - 666.80
2010: Interim High? Year's High? A Low? - ???

[Note on 2006: March's high was 1310.90. April and May produced successive higher highs, albeit marginally, but both month's failed to produce a close above that March high]

Here's the table for the DJIA:

2001: Interim Low (lasting 6 months) - 9047.56
2002: Year's High (lasting 22 months) - 10728.87
2003: Year's Low (multi-year) - 7397.31
2004: Interim High [Feb-Mar](10 months) - 10794.95
2005: Year's High (lasting 10 months) - 11027.15
2006: Interim High [Mar-May](4 months) - 11709.09
2007: Year's Low (lasting 10 months) - 11926.79
2008: Interim Low (lasting 3 months) - 11650.44
2009: Year's Low (multi-year?) - 6440.08
2010: Interim High? Year's High? A Low? - ???

[Notes: 2004's high came slightly earlier that year (Feb) but by a very marginal amount (75 points). The DJIA showed a modest violation of the pattern in 2006, similar to the S&P500]
