I well remember gas wars that took ethyl (like today's "super" with a bottle of octane booster PER gallon) to 15.9 cents per regular ASE gallon.
Interesting you mentioning the Imperial gallon. I remember when I was a young, probably prepubescent, lad. There was the Imperial gallon; and the Canadian dollar was referred to as the "Imperial" dollar, as it traded at about a buck-ten, American.
Gas prices ain't the only thing that has changed.
